My brother was married in Lubbock this past weekend. Talk about your "Red" State/County/City. First, my bro lives in NYC with his now wife. They have many NYC actor friends that were in attendance. Included a gay couple or two, which goes over REAL big with the West Texas Church of Christ crowd let me tell ya. Anyway, that led to some interesting dynamics.
So, having partied down with a few gay men, it's my belief that ONLY gay people should get married. I don't want to stereotype (read: here I go stereotyping), but damn those gays are a good time. Dancing to Britney Spears, scaring the homophobes, it's just GOOD TIMES.
OK, we can let straight people marry, but they have to invite gay people.
ENough about that. I also saw the Buddy Holly museum...well worth the $5 just to see the glasses he was wearing when he died. Also the Buddy Holly statue and Lubbock wall of fame, with Waylon Jennings, Mac Davis, Tanya Tucker and other West Texas artists.
Also, in case you're worried. The Pancake House on Avenue Q is also serving "Freedom Fries" and "Freedom Toast" still in case you were worried West Texans had gotten over hating the French.
