• Terrorists were at war with us, but we were not with them, you said. Exactly WHAT terrorists are you speaking of? “Terrorism” has many faces, and this administration likes to mention “terrorism” every time it opens it’s mouth, so what terrorists should we have been at war with? All of them? The ETA? the IRA? Shining Path? Hamas? Tamil Tigers? Hezbollah?
• A memo titled “Bin Laden to attack in the United States” was not a “warning”. Well, what exactly is a warning to you? Are you telling me for this administration to pay ANY attention to a memo like that it would have to have places, dates, times, names, etc? Yet, I keep hearing the threat levels raised in this United States on the basis of Chatter that doesn’t include that information. Are you telling me that when the threat level is raised, it’s not really a warning?
• Please explain the difference of a “Plan” and a “Strategy”. In my real world experience a plan (like the one given to you by the Clinton administration) is actionable while a Strategy is a high level document. And if you are the National Security Advisor why couldn’t YOU decree that PLANS should be set to motion? Why are you waiting for Richard Clarke to put plans into effect, he has no power to do that. If you or the President weren’t going to initiate action who should have?
